It's A New Year

On New Year's Eve people decide on resolutions they intend to keep throughout the new year. Some make it, while others are lucky to last a month with their promise.

Rather than be disappointed at our attempt to keep a promise for 365 days, we need to concentrate on what we can control rather than things we can't.

Whatever it is you decide your New Year's resolution will be, I wish you luck and success. I am going to resolve to think about what I can control and make that better for the new year.

To my friends and family...

Peace and Quiet and Beautiful

The peace and quiet of the gently fallen snow is breathtaking. I like to just stand here and look around at all the quiet and thank the Lord for His beauty. Two snowfalls in late December equals around seven inches here in southern Indiana. It's been a few years since we have had some measurable snow. Looking at the tree branches and how it's fallen so delicately is fascinating.

As a kid I remember my mom telling my brothers and I not to be in the front yard, trampling through the blanket of snow, so when she looked out the picture window it would still be untouched. Sometimes we listened and sometime we forgot! I find myself thinking along those same lines...Don't touch it! Let it be like this forever!

However, we do turn into kids again once there is a measurable snow and can't wait to get out and play, go sledding, build a snowman, make snow angels, etc.

Weather forecast is calling for 2-3 more inches in the next couple days. Ahhh, more peace and quiet and beauty!

Christmas 2012

Another Christmas holiday has come and gone. All my decorations are put up in storage until next year. I still have my 80+ Christmas cards arranged on my china hutch to look at every once in a while. So many different ones to view with pictures of presents, to Santa Claus, to the Wise Men, wreaths, and Baby Jesus.
Different greetings from wishing you and yours a joyous holiday, blessings at Christmas time, warm wishes for the coming year, peace, joy, and harmony, best wishes and happy new year! Disney, Hallmark, Dayspring, American Greetings, Creative Presence, and Abbey Press just to name a few of the card makers. Everything so different, yet everything the same. My wish for you is for an incredible Christmas and an unbelievable New Year!

My Name Is...

Why do people make it so difficult to pronounce my name correctly? Heck, some of my own family members don't even know how to spell it correctly! smh

Let's Schedule A Visit

Starting the morning at 6AM, laundry in the washing machine by 6:15. Through the kitchen I unload the dishwasher and if anything is dirty in the sink, I load it into the dishwasher. As I continue to get ready for work and listen to the news, I wake up Patrick so he can get started with his day. At 6:45 I take the washed laundry out of the washer and put it into the dryer and start another load of laundry, if there is any. As I continue to get ready, I usually eat a cup of cherry yogurt. I fix me a large cup of water and out the door by, and most times before 7:30. Working 8 hours and (hopefully) done by 4:30PM to rush home, shower and dress again for a basketball game. Meeting my friends at 4:50 to pick up their son from a practice and on the road to an away game. Returning to Crothersville at 10:15 as soon as I get home I remove the clothes from the dryer, fold them and put them away. If anything is in the washer I place it in the dryer, make my way to the kitchen, finish filling the dishwasher and start it. Sometimes I'll cook a meal to have it ready for my boys when they get home from their day tomorrow. Sitting down at 11PM to watch the daily news to see if I've missed anything in the world for the day. Opening the mail and reading the paper or magazines to catch up on the latest happenings. Usually by midnight I'm winding down, only to start the whole process over the next day. Complaining? Never. I wouldn't change a thing! However, if you're pissed because I've not visited with you for awhile, let's schedule a late lunch date. How's 1:30AM work for ya? I'm free and available then, I think! ;)

What Are You Trying To Find Out?

I've taken a few surveys recently, filled out some applications, and answered some questions I have questions about. I guess it all depends on what the survey or application is about and what they are looking for as to how and what questions are asked. For example, you're often asked your sex, martial status, education level, are you employed or unemployed, do you own or rent your home, race, income, and the ever popular question...your age! Often you're not asked for a specific number, rather an age group. They are all different with the most recent application I filled out being... 18-28 30-44 45-59 60+ Of course no one thinks about their age when checking the first group. The second group you realize you are getting older. Then you move to the third group and in this particular survey there are only four groups to choose from, so it don't take long to get to the 60+ group! I think the number system should change and not make us feel old so quickly. Maybe something like... 18-40 41-75 76-99 100-130 131+ Yeah, I like that!

Bacon

We all know anything made with bacon is awesome. My new experiment this morning is no different. First I lined my muffin pan with strips of bacon...
Next I scrambled some eggs, added a little salt and some pepper...
Once scrambled, I filled the muffin pan 3/4 full with the egg...
Added some cheese on top...
Baked in a 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes. The finished product tastes better than I imagined!

Part Of My Day

The rewards we receive as we grow up sure makes a momma proud.
Darn proud of the accomplishments on the back side too!

The Keyboard

Pondering useless information in my brain, I was wondering why the keyboard was arranged the way it is, instead of having the letters in alphabetical order? I did a little research, and Mrs. Koontz isn't going to be too happy. The original keyboard was designed to slow down they typist. For example, the letters 'a' and 's' were placed for use with the left hand using the third and fourth fingers (supposedly the weakest hand and fingers). I guess there are lots of words used with those letters! Of course, over the years we have had teachers like Bonnie who would use a ruler to smack your knuckles if you didn't have your hands placed properly or she'd put the dreaded piece of paper over your hands so you wouldn't look at the keyboard and you'd actually learn where the letters were on the keyboard! Thanks Mrs. Koontz! Now to figure out why the numbers on the keyboard are different than the numbers on a telephone! I'm guessing the keyboard was invented while we still had the rotary dial phones!
