I Am On Vacation!

Hello! My name is Jane Doe.

I live at 111 Easy Street in Anytown, USA 12345.

I will be on vacation to the Bahamas for an entire week.

I will be flying to my destination and will be leaving a day early to sleep over at a hotel close to the airport so I don’t have to travel on the roads so early in the morning.

I can’t wait to get to the Bahamas and have my ass in the water and toes in the sand with a drink in my hand, the ones with the little umbrella. Ahhhh!

I know they will be breathtaking and I want the world to see the beauty of the world, of course, all the fun we will be having too! HELLO IDIOTS!!!

I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have read these comments on the internet sites the last few months. Isn’t that just about begging someone to come into your home, while you are gone enjoying your vacation, and steal everything you own? How awful would you feel to come home to an empty house?

I guess there could be worse things happen.

Hope you have a great vacation and when you come home, it’s just how you left it!

The Garden Hose

Scientist have conducted an experiment and determined parents should not let their children drink out of a water hose. There seems to be chemicals in the hose and bacteria that can be on the end of the hose where the child would put their mouth.

Really?

I'm wondering if these same scientist have ever swabbed a public drinking fountain?? It might be a little more nasty there rather than the end of a garden hose.

I guess my parents were negligent letting my brothers and I drink from the garden hose.

We also played on a swing set that had lead-base paint, rode our bicycles with no hands, climbed trees, and rode a motorcycle without a helmet!

Wow! Life was sure different back then, but so much easier!

Peaking Emotions

I remember the day like it was yesterday. However, the day I'm refering to was four years ago. Patrick sat on the couch in the living room, with his baseball uniform in his hands. I watched him as he sat there and just stared at it for the longest time then said, "Today is the day I've been waiting for my whole life." At 15 years old and he's talking about something he has waited his whole life to do?? I asked him what he was referring too, and he said, "Putting on his varsity baseball uniform."

What a happy, sad, proud moment I had witnessed.



From his first game as a varsity baseball player, to his last game today, it has been an emotional roller coaster. I knew four years ago this day was coming. Trying to prepare for it doesn't get any easier as the days tick away. Today, the baseball team traveled to Springs Valley in French Lick, for the first game of sectional play. The Tigers faced the Trinity Cougars from Seymour. During the regular season the game scheduled with Trinity was rained out and never rescheduled. So, this was the first meeting the Tigers had with the Cougars this season.

Last year in the baseball sectional at Dubois, the Tigers faced the Cougars in a simular situation. It was the semifinal game with the winner advancing into the championship game. Last year the Tigers were successful in defeating Trinity and were sectional runner-ups after they were defeated in the championship game against Dubois.

Today was a different story.

The Tigers lost to Trinity 12-0 in five innings.

This was the final at-bat and final swing for Patrick as a varsity baseball player.



Emotions ran high after the final out when the seniors realized they'd never again put on their uniform and play the game they so dearly love. Tears of sorrow, comforting hugs, and kind words were said to try to ease the pain of reality. In the end, the young men will have their memories to look back on and hopefully realize they did make a difference, even if they were only there for four short years.

Meet Me In Wonderland

The 2013 Junior - Senior Prom was held Friday in the school's cafetorium. Prior to the prom, Patrick, Lindsay and their friends traveled in style to Columbus to eat at Texas Roadhouse.



They had the limo all day to do what they wanted. After traveling to Columbus for a meal, it was time to head back to Crothersville for the prom.

As president of his senior class, Patrick gave his thank you speech to the junior class, thanking them for the special evening.



After an evening of dinner and dancing, the limo picked the kids up from the school, came to our house, changed clothes, and was off to the bowling alley for the rest of the evening and early morning. Bowling, games, and eating was the agenda for the after prom.



Most of the couples wear matching shirts and have cute sayings on them...



Everyone partied till the early morning hours until they were just too tired to party anymore.



The 2013 Prom is over, which means ... another day closer to graduation :(

Austin's Sunshine Dance 2013

Patrick attended his first Sunshine Dance on Saturday night in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Before the night began, we met in Scottsburg at Lake Iola to take a few pictures with his date, family and friends.



We spent over an hour at the lake taking photos, talking, and watching several others taking pictures and trying to capture that 'special moment'.



Of course, it's easy to have good photos when you are photographing beautiful people.



After an hour and 138 photos, I knew this one would end up being my favorite when I was taking it...

Twelve Days!

Opening day for Crothersville boys baseball was twelve days ago. Twelve long days ago.

Patrick's knee has healed from being twisted on March 30 during warm-up and tonight was the first time he's been the Tigers lineup.

His first at-bat this seaon ...

The Tigers defeated West Washington tonight by one run, 11-10.

Another Final Goodbye

Tonight four of the six senior class members of FFA gave their final farewell speech at the 2013 banquet. Brittany Hall, Kaitlyn Hoevener, Katie Masters and Patrick Sweazy told the audience what being a member of FFA meant to them.

Patrick received a certificate for the Academic Award...



...and the Perfect Attendance Award...



Pondering thoughts of his high school career coming to an end...



I just have to keep telling myself, "I can do this!"

Senior Trip

Nerves. Sleepless nights. Anxiety. Emotions.

So many words to describe the last few months and so many different words to describe this last week!

Perfect. Exciting. Exhausted. Awesome.

Sixteen seniors and four chaperones left Sunday evening, March 24 at 7:00pm and returned at 12:30am Saturday morning from the senior trip to New York City and Washington DC. Thirty-five years ago I had my senior trip to Washington DC. Our class didn't get to go to NYC, so this was a first for me! I'm already making plans to go back!



Above is a picture of the Freedom Tower being constructed. The Twin Towers were destroyed by terriosts and the World Trade Center is being rebuilt. When the Freedom Tower is complete, from the top of the flag pole to the ground will be 1776 feet. Completion date is sometime in 2014.

Ground Zero was very emotional. The quietness. The view. The thoughts of what is was like there on 9/11.
