IU Sucks!

The Indiana Hoosiers played a college basketball game at Northwestern Sunday night. IU is currently 9-8 overall and 0-4 in the Big Ten Conference. In the good ole' days, the game against Northwestern was a given. Not now. IU sucks!

At some point during Sunday nights game, Indiana was down by 24 points!

Northwestern 93
Indiana 81

Final.

IU sucks!

This is a picture of their ignorant coach, Tom Crean:

How can you be this happy after a loss? Jeezzz!

Saturday night the Hoosiers play Michigan at Assembly Hall. Their home court. I'm pretty positive IU's overall record will drop to .500 and they will remain winless in the conference.

Indiana Hoosiers suck!

It's The New Year!

Wow! Time sure flies by quickly. Here we are in 2011 already, which just doesn't seem possible. It's that time of year where resolutions have been made and usually kept for a few days or weeks. Probably some have already brokne their attempt at a better year (better luck next year), and some are still right on track the third day of this new year, (Hooray for you)!

Some top resolutions are the same as in year's past: spend time with family and friends, make more money, quit smoking, lose weight, become more healthy, etc...

I didn't make any resolutions this year but I still have hopes of daily attempts at doing things better and making life easier. I have been noticing for about the last week on television the abundance of weight commercials, advertising a pill to help you quit smoking, and several others that goes along with our new resolutions. This has nothing to do with a resolution, it's just my favorite commercial:

For those of you that are attempting to stick to and complete your new resolutions, I applaud you and wish you success. For those of you that have already broken your promise, don't worry, 2012 will be here before you know it!

Happy New Year to all my readers!

An Early Morning Adventure

With the snow covered fields in southern Indiana and the sun coming up on an early morning sure can make for some beautiful pictures and some difficult driving at the same time.
Once the sun peeked from behind the clouds, the fog quickly disappeared.

Sometimes it pays to get up early!

Cha Ching

Yet another successful shopping day! I've been so blessed this Christmas season. Ric had a couple items marked in a book and was suggesting to me he couldn't live without those items.

So, this morning after I picked Patrick up from work, we headed north to Home Depot. I took the book in with me so I'd get the correct items. I showed the cashier the two things Ric needed. The first one was at the end of the cashier's line. How simple was that? My second item she looked up in her computer and we walked two isles over and found exactly what I needed. We made our way up to the register, paid for both items, and was in and out of the store in less than five minutes!

Next we traveled south to Jay-C Stores to purchase more food for our Christmas dinner! I thought I had gotten it all last week, but I've added more to the menu, so I had to go back! Like always, they had everything I needed, and was in and out (after visiting with several friends) in less than a half-hour!

I think I am beginning to like this holiday season more and more!

December

The snow fell in early December, but not on my vehicle!

The white fluffy stuff made for some beautiful pictures. Even though I was busy this weekend, I still managed to capture a few shots!

With the temperature being in the teens of the evenings and the highs in the low 30's during the day in the coming week, the snow might last for a few days!

I Wouldn't Want To Be Any Place Else!

Happiness

Today was the start of the kindergarten students learning the letter D. A few weeks ago, Holly, one of the teachers for our youth, asked me to make some of my ding dongs for the kids. Of course I could not turn down a chance to do some more baking!

Holly told me they needed 48 cupcakes for the kindergarteners, teachers and helpers. So this morning, Patrick and I took in 57 cupcakes for everyone to share, and of course learn more about the letter D!

I was happy to do it for Holly and also Mary Jo who also asked for some of the special treats! I got the biggest and best surprise after school today. Holly stopped by after school to bring me back my bakeware AND a special gift for me!

Holly said the kids were even more excited with the letter D and the ding dong cupcakes!

I'm happy with what the kids made for me!

Funny how the littlest things make your day!

Black Friday

Successful! That is the only way to describe my Black Friday experiences today!

First Patrick and I set out from the 'burg after 6:00 a.m. We made our way south with our first planned stop (after gassing up) at Ace Hardware in Scottsburg. I didn't read the sales flyer carefully enough, because they didn't open till 7:00 a.m. We were about 20 minutes early! Oh well, not a problem.

We continued south on highway 31, enjoying a leisure drive and viewing some Christmas lights and displays along the way.

We decided to make Walmart in Clarksville our next stop. As we pulled into the parking lot we could see cars that had been parked for awhile because there was still frost, and a little snow, on the windshields of some vehicles. We went down the first lane of parked cars just as someone was pulling out from their parking spot, I pulled in.

I had heard Walmart had decided to do things differently this year, to keep customers from arguing and fighting over merchandise, they gave out bracelets at 2:00 a.m. and then had the shoppers come back at 5 or 6:00 a.m. to pick out their purchases. What? I know of several who braved the wet, cold and stormy weather to start their shopping at midnight, get a bracelet and hopefully get their merchandise.

This morning, after a good nights sleep, I went into Walmart, made my way back to the electronics department, found a computer box, loaded it into my shopping cart and headed to the cashier. Beside the cashier's desk I found some flash drives I needed and picked up a few of them. The lady behind the counter looked at the box, retrieved the numbers and said she would have to go to the back room to get the computer. Within 3 minutes she returned with a brand new Dell computer in a box and loaded it into my cart! I showed her a picture in the sales flyer of an alarm clock/radio/iPhone docking/charging device that was on sale this morning. She went to the next isle and brought one back to my cart. I asked if I needed to pay for the items at her checkout or could I go upfront. Didn't matter to her, so up to the front I went. Six lanes open for those with 20 items or less, so we chose the one with no one in line. Zip, scan, thank you very much, and we were in and out of there within 20 minutes (or less!)

No bracelet or sleepless night required!

Next stop...Bass Pro of course!

As we pulled into the parking lot there, we got lucky again. As a few shoppers were making their way out of the store, I followed them to their car, and as they were loading their purchases in their vehicle, we had about 4 college age adults make their way to my window. I rolled down the window and they asked if I would like a cup of coffee! Really? They were promoting Wendy's new breakfast sandwiches and giving away free cups of coffee. I am not a coffee drinker at all, but what the heck...it was free!

They looked like the ghost busters with the coffee canteens strapped on their backs. I got a free cup of hot coffee and some breakfast coupons for a free breakfast from Wendy's! Guess I was in the right place at the right time this morning!

We entered Bass Pro, picked up a sales flyer, and made our way upstairs. I ran into a few friends, enjoyed chatting with them and hearing of their morning experiences, and also found a new sweater I needed! We browsed through the hunting, fishing and golfing merchandise, but didn't find anything else we couldn't live without. Coming back downstairs we looked through the hats and t-shirts. Patrick found a good buy, so we decided it was time to check out.

Most of the registers had more than 10 people in line, so we just decided to stand in the closest one to start our wait. Within 3 minutes a lady at the register ahead of us said, "May I help someone?" Off we went! Checked out and outta there so quickly my head was spinning!

I'm beginning to enjoy this Black Friday stuff!

From there I wanted to meet an old friend who runs the Wayside Christian Mission in Louisville. We thought we would surprise him, but we were the ones who got surprised. He wasn't working today! Guess he had decided to go shopping too!

We made a few other stops, had lunch at our favorite restaurant, viewed the Falls of the Ohio, and made it back home in one piece! On the way back home, I stopped by Ace Hardware to see if the item I was wanting was still in stock. Sure enough it was AND it also included a rebate!

As I said at the beginning, we had a successful day! No arguments. Purchases made without any hassle. More unforgettable memories made!

Yep, it was successful!

Thankfulness

The standard list of five senses doesn't really give our bodies credit for all of the amazing things they can do. There are at least a dozen different things we can sense. Using the standard five senses, hearing, sight, smell, touch, and taste, I’m thankful everyday that my body has those. Hearing Patrick laughing or playing is guitar makes me thankful I can hear. Seeing the joy on his face of his accomplishments, and the man he’s becoming, makes me thankful I can see. Smelling and tasting the chocolate chip cookies we have baked together for Christmas mornings, makes me thankful for being able to smell and taste. Feeling the warm, loving hugs I get from him makes me so thankful for the sense of touch.

I have so many things in my life to be thankful for this Thanksgiving and all the days ahead!

Stress Reliever

After a long week at work I'm always looking for something to get my mind off of the stress. Sometimes, just spending time in my kitchen baking delicious meals or desserts of recipes I've found. Sometimes I like to curl up in a blanket with a good magazine or book. Shopping always helps and sometimes, if the weather cooperates, it's relaxing to gas up the 4-wheeler and take a drive through the country...

A couple weeks ago Patrick and I took a stress relieving trip to the 'bottoms'. Patrick thought it was so funny because he could stand in the river and not get wet.

I have this weekend planned out already and it involves tons of stress relaxing events. Baking, riding, shopping, reading, etc. I'll make sure to share my experiences with you in the next few weeks!
