Basketball Capital of the World

Everyone knows the basketball capital of the world is right here in Indiana! Every year I look forward to the start of the seasons in high school and college levels. The Indiana Hoosiers play this weekend against Evansville, then on December 11 they travel to Lexington to face the Wildcats and in February they have a date with the Boilermakers on the 8th and 23rd. Those are a few of my favorite games I will not miss for anything.

There's nothing better than to have a cup of hot chocolate, setting in my favorite recliner right in front of the television, watching the IU Hoosiers in action.

Fall

Have I mentioned how much I love the Fall season? With the dry weather in the 'burg, our trees weren't a pretty as usual, but you still don't have to look very long or go very far to see some beautiful senery.

On a recent 4-wheeler trip out to one of our favorite fishing holes I was able to capture some pretty pictures.

The water was down from the lack of rain in the county, but it made it easy to walk around the edge of the fishing hole to see some old fish nests that we normally wouldn't be able to see.

We didn't have our fishing poles with us this day, so I don't have any pictures to post of my big fish...but stay tuned! Maybe I will soon!

Which Direction?

Traveling through the country can be an adventure. As Patrick and I made our way around the country roads, not sure where we were going, or what was around the next turn, we was a little disappointed when we seen...

This was somewhere south of county road 1000 south and west of county road 900 east. I told Patrick I thought we could climb the rock with our 4-wheelers and keep our tires on the new beams for bridge floor, but he didn't want to attempt it!

We turned around and headed to the other side of the county and ended up finding this barn as we traveled east on county road 525 south.

If I knew how to paint, I'd by a canvas and painting supplies and make an oil painting of this picture. Since I don't know how, I'll just enjoy the picture!

It was freezing cold everyday we rode and I never seemed to wear enough clothes!

We enjoyed our trek through the country roads of southern Indiana and look forward to doing it again....soon!

More Vacation Photos!

We survived another vacation and now all of us are trying to settle back into the everyday routine. My days, of course, consist of working, meetings, being a taxi driver, meetings, working, etc. (But I wouldn't give it up for nothing!)

Anyway, our week off of the daily grind was very relaxing and looong! We didn't plan anything, no travel plans, nothing. I shut the alarm off on Friday night and left it off all week. When I woke up, if I wanted to get up, I did. If not, I just simply rolled over and went back to sleep.

When we did manage to roll out of our beds for the day we usually took the 4-wheelers for a drive through the beautiful back roads of southern Indiana. I didn't pack my expensive camera, but did have my trusty iPhone with me and made sure I took several pictures.

Some shots I couldn't ask for a better picture, even if I tried with my good camera!

The above picture was taken at our local Conservation Club. I was really wanting to get a picture of how much the lake was down due to our dry summer, but I was much happier with the way this turned out! Below is on our way home on Tampico Pike. The full moon can been seen in the distance.

Stay tuned...more of our southern Indiana adventures will be posted in the coming days!

The Cup Cake Lady

I have been called 'The Cup Cake Lady' several times over the last few years. Every time I am invited to a party or have a function to attend that involves food, I'm asked to make my ding dong cup cakes. With making them so many times, I have perfected the technique to where it's one of the easiest desserts I bake.

I've done them so many times I have an assembly line set up.

Yes, I'd own my own restaurant/bakery if I could. That has always been a dream of mine, but for now I'll just settle for seeing the happiness in my friends eyes when I show up to the party with a cookie sheet full of the goodness!

Reality

I've spent the last week on vacation and have had a great time. This vacation we didnt plan anything, turned the alarm off, and just done things at the spur of the moment. The week has seemed like it went on forever. Today is my last day before I wake up to reality on the morning. Today I am going to have tenderized pork loins on the grill. The pool has been closed for the winter, buy I can grill on the deck anytime during the year.

Check back the next few weeks to see pictures I've taken during my vacation week!

RAIN!

Believe it or not, but this is a picture taken on Wednesday afternoon, September 22, 2010. Yes, that is rain on my windshield! RAIN!

I can't remember the last time we had some rain, probably several months ago! Sure was a welcome sight yesterday!

Back Home Again In Indiana

A five hour drive, one way. Beautiful scenery no matter where you are looking. Almost 700 miles round trip. Coming across the Kennedy bridge on the way home and seeing the Indiana sign makes me sad and happy at the same time...

Is it July yet?

Ahhhh...I'm Ready To Go Back!

The drive to Tennessee is beautiful no matter which way you are looking:

I've never been here, but always chuckle when I see this sign. Maybe someday I'll make the exit just to see where it takes me:

Always A Great View

Downtown Sevierville, Tennessee:

This one is right after coming down the mountain from our cabin.
